Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related field preferred
Valid Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Certified teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, or certified teacher of students with Visual Impairments.
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate, if not licensed
Three years’ experience in related field
Experience with Assistive Technology
Ability to work with school and community populations
Primary Purpose:
Provide student appraisal and instructional leadership in the area of assistive technology to special education and general education teachers within the district.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, printer, copier, and fax machine. Assistive technology: no tech, low tech and high tech. Wheelchair: lifts, restraints, ramps and locks.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions, moderate lifting and carrying, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions. Frequent district wide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Exposure to noise, microwaves and biological hazards.
