Salary: This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position at 232 days with a minimum annual salary of $81,352. This is a grant-funded position and continued employment is contingent upon grant renewal.

Job Summary (Primary Purpose): Provide training and technical assistance to ESC Region 13 LEAs in assistive technology, related services (occupational therapy/physical therapy), and adapted physical education.

Required Qualifications (Education/Certificates):

  • Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist with Texas licensure
  • Bachelor’s in Special Education with Texas teaching certificate
  • 5 years of recent work-related experience in a school setting
  •  Knowledge of evidence-based practices for students with disabilities
  • Thorough knowledge of a variety of assistive technologies, accessible education materials, and current technology trends


Preferred Qualifications (Education/Certificates):

  • Master’s in Special Education with Texas teaching certificate
  • Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) Certification


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of STAAR accessibility features 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills 
  • Knowledge of trends, processes, and state priorities in special education 
  • Knowledge of adult learning pedagogy 
  • Knowledge of co-teaching models 
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills 
  • Knowledge of systematic planning using data to determine needs and results 
  • Knowledge of current Federal/State special education laws, regulations, and rules 
  • Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) 


Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate program plan for AT specialists, related services providers, and adaptive physical education teachers to include but not limited to workshops, technical assistance, listserv, website, assessment materials, AT tools, and the Assistive Technology Preview Center
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate related services meetings for AT Specialists, OTs, PTs, and Adaptive PE teachers
  • Develop and conduct presentations and training for small and large groups, contract and negotiate with outside consultants regarding needed training, and evaluate training activities using appropriate data collection and analysis procedures
  • Collaborate with other ESC Region 13 staff to ensure well-articulated and coordinated services in the areas of assistive technology, related services, and adapted PE
  • Provide up-to-date information to LEAs regarding developments, initiative, and priorities at the federal, state, and regional levels in the areas of assistive technology and related services
  • Collaborate with ESC Region 13 teams to improve student performance and meet the established goals and objectives of ESC Region 13 and the TEA
  • Research, order, maintain, and track assistive technology devices, tools, and equipment for the ESC 13 Assistive Technology Preview Center
  • Participate in the ESC Region 13 collaboration with the Texas Technology Access Program (TTAP) by attending meetings, demonstrating technology tools, and tracking client data
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any direct reports, but may provide general direction to others. There may be a need to train new staff members. 


Budget Responsibilities:
Plan activities and manage associated budget from grant funds

  • General office equipment including copiers, scanners, and video conferencing equipmen
